The Flathead Valley, in Northwest Montana, offers a little something for everyone….providing a dream many seek, but few find.
The “Flathead,” as locals call the valley, lies just west of the Continental Divide in northwest Montana.  Here you’ll find the gateway to Glacier National Park, and the home of both Whitefish Mountain Resort and Blacktail Ski Area.  Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, is also among the cleanest large lakes – perfect for sailing, cruising, swimming, and fishing.   A surprisingly mild climate invites you outside all year. Typical winter temperatures are in the 20s and 30s.  Summer temperatures usually range from the 70s to low 90s.
Key features of our area are:

  •  historic western towns and artist villages
  • Glacier National Park
  • Bob Marshall Wilderness
  • easy access via Glacier International Airport
  • two ski resorts
  • nine golf courses
  • state of the art medical facilities
  • community college
  • multitude of pristine lakes and rivers

Four major communities of the Flathead Valley are:

Bigfork – and artist village tucked into a bay on the northeast corner of Flathead Lake featuring
Bigfork Summer Playhouse, Jewel Basin Hiking Area, and Eagle Bend Golf Course

Columbia Falls – is the gateway city to Glacier National Park.  It also features Meadow Lakes Golf Resort and the Waterslide.

Kalispell – is the commercial hub  and county seat of the Flathead county with Kalispell Regional Hospital, Flathead Valley Community College, the museums, shopping complexes to include box stores such as Costco, Wal-Mart, ShopKo, Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc.

Whitefish – is a ski resort town at the base of Whitefish Mountain Ski Resort and Whitefish Lake.
